If you've ever been anywhere near a kitchen, particularly an Asian kitchen, you are probably going to be familiar with sesame oil. It's a delicious oil that is often used for cooking, although its healing benefits have been utilized as long as Ayurveda has been in practice, which is thousands and thousands of years.

Sesame oil is not just good for use in our food though, its benefits are best seen when it is applied to the body and massaged thoroughly into it every day. One of the key principles of Ayurveda is self-care and self-love – daily massages that you give to yourself to stay in touch with your body and improve your circulation and blood flow. This is enormously helpful if you have depression or any other ailment that causes you to feel at odds with your body.

Sesame oil clears the sinuses if you smell it or gargle with it, and it also helps the skin to heal. If there is anything Ayurvedic practitioners knew, it was how to heal the body while finding ways to look great all at the same time. Using sesame oil is definitely one of the things they knew would benefit us all!
